History of CCC Abaco |
December 1, 2007.
December 1, 2007 marked a momentous occasion
in the history of the Christian Counselling
Centre. The doors of the Satellite Centre
were opened in Marsh Harbour, Abaco; in
keeping with our purpose statement -
'helping hurting people.' Services provided
are: individual, pre-marital, family,
pre-adolescence, adolescence, AIDS and group
therapy. Miss Erika Lowe is the on-site
Counsellor and the Office Coordinator, along
with Mrs. Ruth Pinder.

at the opening: Executive Director, Pastor
Frederick Arnett; Vice Chairman, Michael
Symonette; Director of Counselling Services,
Mrs. Helen Arnett; Director of Training, Dr.
Susan Newbold; and Director Public Relations
officer, Mrs. Betty Roberts.

Director of the Renascence Institute in Nassau, Dr. Allen and his team of psychotherapists and psychoanalysts cater to a diverse clientele and specialize in marital therapy, depression, grief and loss, addictions and crisis management.
Dr. Allen will be holding a clinic at the Marsh Harbour Christian Counseling Center on August 20th 2010. The initial clinic will be followed by bi-weekly visits.

DR. DAVID F. ALLEN, M.D., M.P.H.
¨ Trained in medicine at Saint Andrew’s University, in Scotland, UK and in Psychiatry and Public Health at Harvard University, in Boston, U.S.A. Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry with Added Qualification in Addiction.
¨ Dr. Allen has taught at Harvard, Yale and most recently held a clinical professorship in Psychiatry at Georgetown Medical School, in Washington, U.S.A.
¨ Dr. Allen was voted as one of the most outstanding psychiatrists in America, 2002-2003
¨ In 1987, Dr. Allen was given the RB Bennett Commonwealth prize, by the Royal Society of Arts in London, for his international contribution in the field of cocaine addiction and treatment.
¨ Dr. Allen has pioneered the development of treatment approaches to cocaine addiction in the Bahamas, and Washington D.C.
¨ In May 2008 Dr. Allen was made a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
¨ Dr. Allen pioneered the development of Drug treatment for Men and Women at the Gospel Rescue Mission, on 815 5th ST NW Washington DC. He now is emeritus director of treatment at Gospel Rescue Ministries.
¨ Dr. Allen has consulted and conducted motivational and educational seminars at numerous organizations including the Young Presidents Organization of Washington D.C., The Atlantis hotel, Paradise Island, the Chautauqua Institution in New York, etc.
¨ Dr. Allen is the author of numerous books, namely, Mental Health Evaluation, Ethical Issues In Mental Retardation, The Caring Physician, The Cocaine Crisis, Cocaine: The Broken Promise, In Search of the Heart, Shattering The Gods Within, and most recently Contemplation: Intimacy in a Distant World. He has published numerous scientific papers on his research field, The Addictions and Psychological development. His new book, Shame the modern Nemesis is due out in 2010. His First children’s book “Pudgy: A Bahamian Parable” came our in June, 2010.
¨ Dr. Allen has a regular radio program on FM 97.5 Sunday evenings at 7:00pm entitled Coming Home To Our Heart.
¨ Dr. Allen also has a television program on JCN Channel 14 Wednesday evenings at 9:00pm entitled People Helping People.
¨ Dr. Allen is the Director of the Renascence Institute in Nassau, and his team of psychotherapists and psychoanalysts cater to an international clientele and specialize in marital therapy, depression, grief and loss, addictions and crisis management.
